Kat's First Poem

Kat made up a poem and I wrote it down. She's so cute.

****

When I bake pancakes
A rolling pin drops on my toes
When I see a cake baked
My foot is still aching.

When the cake falls on my toes
It splats on my head.
When my head gets washed,
It gets dirty again.

When I see a butterfly in the cake
It just eats all the cake.
When I write everything
It just scribbles up wrong.

When I put my bow on my head
It slips off when I bend over.
When I go into a box.
I can't breathe anymore.

When the blanket bag drops on my toes.
My toes go flip flop.
And turn my heart upside down.
Then my heart goes flip flop.

My Babies

I guess I'll do this one too.

My First born:

Here you go mommies - a different kind of survey for a change - it's all about your first born! Just copy and paste it in a new note for yourself!

Let's see how much you remember!

1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED? No

2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Yes. Had been for about two years.

3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS? Excited

4. HOW OLD WERE YOU? 26.

5. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT? Home pregnancy test while on a mission trip in Mexico. It wasn't until I got there that I realised I was late.

6. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST? Kurt wasn't on the trip, so everyone on the mission trip knew before he did.

7. DUE DATE? Januarry 30th I think.

8. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS? Not really, no.

9. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE? I can't remember. All sorts of things I think. Probably soups.

10. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST? Everything?.

11. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX? Girl

12. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING? Nope.

13. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY? about 6-10.

14. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER? yes, Yes, one at church and one from Kurt's job.

17. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH? Denton Hospital, now known as Presbyterian Hospital of Denton

18. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR? About 6 hours..

19. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL? Kurt

20. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH? Kurt, doctor, nurses.

21. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION? C-Section

22. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN? I started off at a birthing center in hopes that I could have a natural, unmedicated birth. Unfortunately, my bone structure is wonky and I am unable to give birth naturally. Of course, I had to have medicine for the C-Section.

23. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH? 8lb 15oz

24. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN ? January 15, 2005

25. WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER? Sarah Katherine but we call her Kat.

26. HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN TODAY? She just recently turned 4.

Wow, a real update!

Matthew is saying sauce (by which he means applesauce), brush (buhsh), and eat (eeeee, but it's obvious what he means). Brush has been going on for about four days and I kept forgetting to write it. The other two started either yesterday or the day before.

This has gotten rather long. It's been a while since I've done a real update as opposed to short snippets. Perhaps I shall have to do this more often? Well, for that, I'll probably need more time. :)
Matthew XO Smile!

Vocabulary update

Matthew has been saying clock for about three weeks and I just kept forgetting when I got to the point to write it here. It sounds like caw or a gutteral almost German sounding claw. He's also saying jump, though it sounds like 'duh duh'. I know I'm missing more. It's been busy and when he says something new, I often can't get somewhere to write it down. Bah. I must try to do better about this!

Recipes, Quilts, and Kids

I just love it when I totally make up a recipe and it actually turns out tasty. :-D I posted a marinade I just threw together tonight on thehungrycook if anyone is interested.

I am so very very excited. The Denton Quilt Guild is implementing a new (to us) community outreach. We're modeling it off of the same outreach that a couple of other guilds have done, including the San Antonio Quilt Guild. It's called Storybooks and Quilts to Go. The San Antonio Guild has information on there website about it HERE.

I am extremely, extremely excited about this. I've been wanting to do something similar to this for a while. It's not exactly what I wanted to do, but it's close and something I know I'll enjoy. I've already put in a request for a book to do a quilt for and I'm hoping I get my first choice - Sam Johnson and the Blue Ribbon Quilt by Linda C. Ernst. I love that book! I'm just so very excited about this! I know, I'm repeating myself, but I can't help it!

Matthew is developing so fast. He's said his first, extremely short, sentence. "Get down.". Can you tell that we say that to our cats quite often? He's also roars like a lion. ;-)

1. ball
2. mama
3. daddy (dada)
4. kitty (mostly kiii, but started to say kiiittyyyy...)
5. spoon (boon)
6. book (pronounced right except no K)
7. bubble
8. baby (buhby)
9. ypple (bappoo)
10. yeah
11. diaper (babur or buhpur)
12. no
13. bye bye (it's official, he knows this word!)
14. down (dow)

He also knows the sign for more (but doesn't like to use it). I've been remiss on teaching him more signs. I should change that.

He meows like a cat and barks (softly) like a dog and roars like a lion.

(no subject)

I found out this morning that a friend of mine is going to lose her third child. This child will die - and this child isn't even born yet.

Jonathan has Trisomy 18

This child will most likely not live to be a year old. His chances are somewhere between 5-10%.

I want to weep. This is not even my child and I want to weep. Please pray for my friend.
